Profile & Story
The Vandelle family has farmed vines in L'Etoile, Jura since 1883, and Bernard and Philippe Vandelle continue the estate today, working 16 hectares under integrated farming. Vin Jaune is their signature wine: made entirely from Savagnin, it is aged for six years in barrel under a veil of yeast (sous voile) without topping up, the same oxidative method used for sherry, and bottled in the traditional 620ml clavelin.
Tasting Notes
A deep yellow color with a powerful, distinctive nose of walnuts and spice, curry and ginger are typical, carried through onto the palate as the signature of extended aging under voile.
Pairing Recommendation
The domaine recommends it with cream-based dishes, exotic and spiced cuisine, and Comte cheese, served between 14-16C.
