Profile & Story

Crafted in 1992 by Booker Noe as part of the Small Batch bourbon collection, Basil Hayden's takes its name from a Maryland rye farmer who moved to Kentucky in 1792 to begin distilling, and honors that heritage with a higher percentage of rye in its mash bill, aimed at a more subtle, approachable style meant to welcome new drinkers to bourbon. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon is spicy yet smooth, both rich and sweet.

Tasting Notes

The nose shows charred oak with sweet vanilla caramel and hints of dried fruit; the palate carries charred oak flavor rounded out by sweet brown sugar and a touch of black pepper, finishing with a pleasant, lingering charred-oak character and dried fruit.
