2023, Kick Ranch Vineyard , Sonoma's Fountaingrove District, USA
About the Wine
This 100% Sauvignon Blanc, crafted from the Musque clone, is a bright and expressive wine from the Fountaingrove District in Sonoma County. It was aged for 7 months on lees, enhancing its texture and complexity. The barrel program consisted of 12% new Saury oak, 16% used oak, and 72% stainless steel, which helped preserve the vibrant fruit character while adding subtle layers of richness. The result is a balanced wine with fresh acidity and a nuanced profile that showcases the distinctive qualities of this exceptional varietal.
Tasting Notes
The aromatics on this wine are exuberant and expressive - fresh-cut flowers, guava, green tropical fruits and sweet citrus zest, with a wisp of oak spice influence. The palate is vibrant and nervy with a rich, generous texture, exceptional longevity, and slight trace of citrus pith on the fade. Expect additional volume, complexity, and amplitude with some bottle age.
Pairing Notes
This sauvignon blanc will show well as an aperitif wine with charcuterie, lighter vegetable risotto or legume plates, and as a palate cleanser before dessert courses.
