Castello di Stefanago is the Baruffaldi family's organic estate in the Oltrepo Pavese hills of Lombardy. Sbarbatello ('Una vite da monello,' a vine grown like a mischievous kid) is a Pinot Nero, Provincia di Pavia IGP, hand-harvested and made with some skin-contact maceration and semi-carbonic fermentation to emphasize fruit character, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. ABV approx. 13%.
Tasting Notes
A juicy, fruit-forward Pinot Nero style built for light chilling: bright red berry fruit, soft, gently rustic tannins from the semi-carbonic winemaking, and a fresh, easy-drinking finish.
