Profile & Story
Weingut Schodl is run by siblings Mathias, Viktoria and Leonhard Schodl on certified-organic, biodynamically-farmed vineyards in Austria. Fruhstuckswein ('breakfast wine') is their own made-up name for a fun, easy-drinking orange cuvee -- Gruner Veltliner and Welschriesling with a little Riesling, co-fermented with roughly 24 hours of skin contact, then aged about 7 months across stainless steel, a large oak cask and neutral 500L barrels on full lees.
Tasting Notes
Light-to-medium bodied, dry, spritzy and juicy, opening with yellow pear and tropical fruit, apple and peach, developing mandarin, honey, cashew cream and beeswax with air; medium-plus acidity and a long finish.
Pairing Recommendation
Great as a spritz with seltzer, or alongside a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.
