Bodegas Arrocal was founded in 1999 by brothers Rodrigo and Asier Calvo, who took over the family vineyard in Gumiel de Mercado, Burgos, and built their winery in 2003. 'Paraje de los Colmenares' is 100% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) from three parcels totaling 5.54 hectares on the pronounced slopes and shallow clay-limestone soils of the Colmenares site (850-890m elevation), aged 12 months in oak followed by 12 months in bottle.
