Pereira D'Oliveira, founded in 1820, has held on to an unusually deep library of old Madeiras rather than selling them off, ageing everything in cask under the house philosophy that Madeira develops best in wood. Terrantez is among the rarest grapes in its cellar — a variety that nearly went extinct.
