Profile & Story

Krug Grande Cuvée was born from Joseph Krug's ambition to craft the very best champagne he could offer every year, regardless of annual variations in climate, and each year the house honours that vision with a new Edition. The 173rd Edition is composed around the harvest of 2017 and is a blend of 150 wines from 13 different years, the youngest from 2017 and the oldest dating back to 2001; reserve wines from the Maison's library make up 31% of the final blend. The final composition is 44% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay and 22% Meunier. Disgorged in January 2024 with a dosage of 4.5 grams per liter.

Tasting Notes

A light golden colour with fine, vivacious bubbles; aromas of flowers in bloom, ripe, dried and citrus fruits, marzipan and gingerbread, with flavours of hazelnut, nougat, barley sugar, jellied and citrus fruits, almonds, brioche and honey.

Pairing Recommendation

Lends itself to a wealth of culinary combinations, from an aged parmesan to turbot à la truffe; enjoyable as an aperitif with Jabugo ham and mature Comté, or with oysters, grilled shrimp, Indian or Moroccan food, and desserts such as carrot cake or tarte Tatin.
