Profile & Story

Marco De Bartoli built his winery in Samperi, a historic district on the outskirts of Marsala in western Sicily, on arid, limestone- and mineral-rich land he considered ideal for native varieties, above all Grillo. He is credited with marrying Sicilian wine tradition with modern winemaking methods. The Superiore Oro (Riserva) bottling — grown at the Vigna la Miccia site — is cold-vinified for a more delicate, primary-fruited style than the estate's oxidative Marsalas.

Tasting Notes

Semi-dry in style and lighter than De Bartoli's oxidative Marsalas, showing the fruity, delicate character preserved by its cold, low-oxygen winemaking, offering all the personality of a traditional Marsala in a more subtle, elegant register.

Pairing Recommendation

Pairs well with pumpkin-filled pasta, soft and blue cheeses, foie gras, and prawns, as well as with dessert; best served at room temperature or slightly chilled (14-16°C).
