Bodegas Frontonio farms in the IGP Valdejalón zone of Aragon, Spain. The Microcosmico Garnacha comes from organically farmed vines over 35 years old, planted on calcareous clay-sandy slopes at 500 to 700 meters in the village of Jarque. Grapes are hand-harvested into small 18-kilogram boxes, with about 20% whole clusters foot-trodden before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in above-ground concrete tanks over 28 days. The wine then ages for seven months in underground concrete tanks before bottling; around 19,000 bottles are made each vintage.
