Profile & Story
Camilucci is a Franciacorta estate founded in 1990 by Stefano Camilucci, farming 18 hectares across Rodengo Saiano, Ome, Monticelli Brusati and Gussago near Lake Iseo, close to Brescia. Ammonites, the estate's base cuvee, takes its name from the prehistoric sea creatures whose fossils are found in Franciacorta's ancient morainic soils -- the same ground that hosts the Camilucci vineyards, at roughly 200 meters elevation on vines averaging 20 years old. The wine is a blend of 75% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Nero and 5% Pinot Bianco, combining the current harvest with reserve wines from at least five earlier vintages, each vinified separately before assembly. After 6-8 months in temperature-controlled steel, it undergoes a minimum of 18 months on the lees during secondary fermentation in bottle, plus a further 6 months of bottle rest before release, finishing as a Dosaggio Zero / Brut Nature style at 12.5% ABV.
Tasting Notes
An intense straw yellow with golden reflections and a fine, persistent bead. The nose offers fresh, complex notes of ripe citrus, green apple and white flowers alongside dried fruit tones of hazelnut and almond. The palate is dry, mineral and enveloping, with bright acidity balancing a creamy texture through a long, savory citrus finish.
