Cantine Benvenuto is a small family winery in Francavilla Angitola, in Calabria's Vibo Valentia province, within the Parco Regionale delle Serre. Founder Giovanni Celeste Benvenuto moved to Calabria from the Marsica hills to reconnect with his family's roots and revive the region's historic Zibibbo Calabrese vine, eventually earning IGP authorization for the variety after more than a decade of work, recognized internationally when The New York Times named the estate's Zibibbo Calabrese among Italy's best white wines in 2020. The vineyards sit on granitic, volcanic soils of the Blocco Calabro and are farmed organically. Mare is a blend of 60% Malvasia and 40% Zibibbo grapes, bottled as Calabria IGP Bianco.
