Profile & Story

Leonardo Bussoletti is a vigneron based in Narni, in Umbria's Ternano-Spoletino wine country, farming organically certified ("Suolo e Salute") vineyards across the estate's various crus. Collemurello takes its name from the site in San Gemini where it is grown: 100% Trebbiano Spoletino planted on clay-limestone soils at 230 meters above sea level, from vines averaging ten years old, trained in guyot with yields kept to 500-600 grams per plant. Grapes are hand-harvested in 20 kg crates and undergo spontaneous fermentation lasting about 30 days; the wine then rests in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for six months with regular batonnage before six further months of bottle aging. Annual production is 6,000-8,000 bottles.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw yellow in the glass. Regular batonnage on the fine lees builds texture and roundness underneath the citrus and white-orchard-fruit character typical of Trebbiano Spoletino grown on Umbria's clay-limestone hillsides, with delicate floral and mineral undertones. The palate stays fresh and vibrant, closing on a long, saline finish.

Pairing Recommendation

This Trebbiano Spoletino pairs well with Mediterranean-style fish dishes, seafood, semi-aged cheeses and white meats, and also goes very well with spicy dishes and Oriental cuisine. Serve at 12-14°C.
