The Lanzavecchia family behind Villadoria maintains a strong bond to the lands near Gavi, keeping this wine in their portfolio because Cortese reaches its greatest potential in this small village. Grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed, then fermented without skin contact at low temperature, at yields of about 60 hectoliters per hectare. 12-13% ABV depending on vintage.
Tasting Notes
Straw yellow in color with mild greenish highlights; aromas of hawthorn flowers and green and golden delicious apple lead to a pleasantly crisp palate with balanced acidity, good structure, and a mineral finish.
Pairing Recommendation
Excellent as a pre-dinner drink, and with white meat, fish, and seafood dishes.
