Profile & Story

Markus Altenburger farms five organic vineyards around Jois on the Leithaberg, on limestone, chalky loam and schist soils overlooking Lake Neusiedl, and has moved the estate toward biodynamic certification since taking over the family property. Ois Erleben is a solera-style white blend of Muskat Ottonel, Traminer, Welschriesling, Gruner Veltliner and Sauvignon Blanc across the 2023-2025 vintages, hand harvested and macerated on the skins, then spontaneously fermented in large oak Stockinger barrels and concrete eggs where it rests from four months to three years. The name means 'all experience it.'

Tasting Notes

A skin-fermented Burgenland white blend typically shows an amber-orange hue with aromas of dried apricot, orange peel and honeyed spice, a textured, structured palate, moderate tannin from skin contact and a savoury, lingering finish.
