Profile & Story
Gerardo Cesari was founded in 1936 in Valpolicella, in the Veneto, and its 1971 Amarone Classico was one of the first Amarones exported to the United States. Due Torri, Italian for "two towers", is Cesari's range of varietal wines from long-term partner growers' hillside vineyards across the Trevenezie, spanning the Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige. This Pinot Noir is hand-harvested in early September, vinified and aged for three months in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation, then rested a month in bottle before release, at 12.5% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Vibrant, intense red in color, with aromas of blackberry, ripe plum and cinnamon and a delicate note of red cherry. Fresh and light-bodied, soft and harmonious on the palate, with mild tannins rounding out the finish.
Pairing Recommendation
An elegant companion to roasted poultry and tender pork dishes, soft and semi-aged cheeses, gourmet burgers and pasta with ragu.
