Profile & Story
Tunella is a family winery in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, begun in the 1960s by the Zorzettig family and run today by brothers Massimo and Marco Zorzettig with their mother Gabriella; wine technician Giuseppe Zamparo has worked with the estate since 1983. Its roughly 70 hectares of vineyards lie in Cividale del Friuli, Premariacco, Manzano and Corno di Rosazzo. This Chardonnay is grown on marl-and-sandstone "ponca" soils of Eocene origin in the Oriental Friuli hills, bottled at 13% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Intense straw yellow deepening with age; a fragrant, fruity nose of small ripe tropical fruits, pineapple, and white flowers. Noble and elegant on the palate, light-bodied with well-balanced, pleasant freshness.
Pairing Recommendation
Excellent as an aperitif or with light starters, dry first courses and pasta consommes, and egg- or fish-based dishes.
