Profile & Story

Montenidoli is a historic organic estate above the walled town of San Gimignano in Tuscany, run by Elisabetta Fagiuoli. This wine is produced entirely from Canaiolo, a native red grape more commonly used as a blending partner in Chianti, here given a leading role; the estate describes it as having "the gentleness of a white and the strength of a red - a perfect rosé." The grapes are certified organic (ICEA), farmed at roughly 800 feet of altitude on marine-sediment soils and trained on the Guyot system, then vinified in steel and bottled on the lees at the end of fermentation, with about 15,000 bottles produced per year.

Tasting Notes

Pale pink in color, the wine opens with raspberries and violets, progressing to orange blossom and citrus. The palate is full and very dry, with well-modulated, crisp acidity and a long, salty, mineral finish.

Pairing Recommendation

Montenidoli suggests it as a wine for a toast or a party - pink, fresh and simply pleasurable at any time.
