Profile & Story

The Brkic family have grown grapes for generations in Citluk, in the Herzegovina wine region south of Mostar; the current estate dates to 1979 and has bottled under its own label since 1994. Under Josip Brkic the vineyards were converted to organic and, in 2007, to biodynamic, the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina; about 70% of the plantings are the local white Zilavka. 'Mjesecar' (Moonwalker) is made from 100% Zilavka, fermented spontaneously on the full berries and aged on the lees in Bosnian oak, following the lunar calendar.
