Profile & Story
Keltis is the Kelhar family estate at Bizeljsko, in the Posavje region of Lower Styria, Slovenia. Mario Rose is a sparkling wine of Pinot Noir (80%) and Chardonnay (20%) from vineyards 16 to 25 years old at about 350 m, on schist, clay and sandstone. The hand-picked grapes are directly pressed and ferment spontaneously without added yeast; the wine matures in large oak with battonage on the fine lees and is bottled unfiltered. Extremely dry (brut nature), 12.5% alcohol.
Tasting Notes
Extremely fresh, with tiny, active bubbles. A pronounced, medium-intensity bouquet recalls flowers, strawberries and peeled apples; very dry on the palate, where peeled-apple fruit and delicate acidity lead into a long aftertaste.
Pairing Recommendation
Best served well chilled, at 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, as an aperitif.
