Profile & Story
Vinarija Kriz is a certified organic and biodynamic estate on the Peljesac Peninsula in southern Dalmatia, run by third-generation winemaker Denis Bogoevic-Marusic and his father Mile. From just 2 to 3 hectares of hand-terraced, south-facing slopes of up to 45 degrees on terra rossa over limestone, they farm 60-year-old bush vines at tiny yields (under half a kilo per vine). This Plavac Mali (the 'Milo' bottling) is fermented in open tanks with wild yeasts and aged about 12 months in large 600-litre Slavonian oak casks, unfiltered and with minimal additions.

Approachable and food-friendly, showing the complexity of Peljesac limestone in a drinkable style, with dark fruit and lighter, supple tannins.
