Profile & Story
Roxanich, in Motovun in western Istria, is Mladen Rozanic's house of long-macerated natural wines; Sara is named for his daughter, Sara Rozanic. It is a long-macerated orange Chardonnay: the destemmed grapes macerate on their skins (about seven days) with wild-yeast fermentation, then age at length in large wooden casks and are bottled unfiltered. 13.5% alcohol, from Western Istria.
Tasting Notes
Deep amber in color, with complex aromas of nutmeg, almonds and jasmine. Fresh and direct on the palate, with citrus and minerality, a generous full body, elegant tannin and a viscous texture, closing on a long, nutty aftertaste.
