Profile & Story

Erno Sagmeister and his wife Laura, both of Hungarian descent, are based near Kanjiza in Vojvodina, Serbia; in 2008 Erno, a former mathematics professor, bought three vineyards in Fruska Gora National Park, a historic region that once supplied the Habsburg court. He reintroduced Furmint and Harslevelu to Fruska Gora and farms organically and biodynamically (uncertified, by conviction). This wine is 100% Furmint from the single Devas vineyard, on soils of red clay, slate and limestone; it is vinified with one day of skin contact and aged three and a half years in large Serbian and Hungarian oak.
