Casa Vinicola Gioacchino Garofoli traces to 1871, when Antonio Garofoli began producing and selling local Marche wines; his son Gioacchino expanded the business and founded the winery under his own name in 1901. Farnio, named for a mountain pass in the Monti Sibillini National Park above the Rosso Piceno zone, blends 70% Montepulciano with 30% Sangiovese, vinified in stainless steel and aged 3-6 months plus 3-4 months in bottle.
