Profile & Story
Gérard Bertrand, one of the Languedoc's leading producers and a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in the south of France, created Orange Gold as a tribute to the ancient orange-wine traditions of Georgia. The white grapes — an exceptional blend of seven varieties, principally Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Viognier for volume, with Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Muscat adding aromatic complexity — are vinified and fermented on their skins in whole bunches, like a red wine, giving the wine its remarkable golden-orange hue. The grapes are certified organic (AB) and the wine is bottled as Vin de France.
Tasting Notes
Complex on the nose, with an explosion of white flowers, candied fruit and white pepper. The palate is flattering and fresh, with precise flavors and beautiful balance; the texture is sweet and fine, enveloping the palate, with a long, gently bittersweet finish.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs well with aperitifs and cheese platters, and especially with spicy Indian or Asian dishes.
