Profile & Story
Castello di Verduno is based at the top of the village of Verduno on the edge of the Barolo zone, owned by Gabriella Burlotto and Franco Bianco; the estate holds cellars both in the Barolo zone and near the noted Rabaja cru in Barbaresco. The Langhe Nebbiolo is made from Nebbiolo grown in vineyards the estate holds in common in the Barbaresco area, planted in 1978 at about 265 meters on Marne di Sant'Agata soils of sand, clay and limestone. The wine sees about 12 days of maceration with a controlled, low-temperature fermentation using indigenous yeasts, then six months in large Slavonian oak botti, three months in stainless steel and three months in bottle, without fining or filtration, with roughly 7,800 bottles produced annually.
Tasting Notes
A young, versatile expression of Nebbiolo; the low-temperature maceration is used to capture the immediacy of the fruit, giving a fresh and approachable style.
