Chartreuse 1605 Green

Profile & Story

This special cuvee was first created in 2005 to mark the 400th anniversary of the handover of the Elixir de Longue Vie manuscript by Marshal d'Estrees to the Chartreux Fathers of Vauvert. It is inspired by the early-19th-century 'liqueur de sante' (Elixir de table) that in 1840 became Chartreuse Verte. To make it, the Carthusians blend a traditional green Chartreuse liqueur with the power of the Elixir Vegetal, resulting in a higher-proof liqueur bottled at 56% ABV in a smoked-glass bottle with cork stopper and dark green label, from alcohol, sugar, water and 130 plant substances.
