V.E.P. stands for Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolonge (exceptionally prolonged aging), a trademark specific to Chartreuse, first produced in 1963. The Green V.E.P. follows the same process as standard Chartreuse Verte, but the Carthusians select certain traditional green liqueurs to continue aging for many years in large oak casks (demi-muids), producing a 54% ABV liqueur bottled at 100cl, presented the same way as its Yellow counterpart.
