V.E.P. stands for Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolonge (exceptionally prolonged aging), a trademark specific to Chartreuse, first produced in 1963. The Yellow V.E.P. is made using the same process as standard Chartreuse Jaune, but the Carthusians select certain traditional yellow liqueurs to continue aging for many years in large oak casks (demi-muids), producing 42% ABV liqueur bottled at 100cl in a reproduction of the 1840-style bottle, with a cork stopper, wax-sealed and numbered back label, presented in a branded wooden box.
