XXVI Talhas is a small project based in the village of Vila Alva in the Alentejo, one of the few places where the Roman-introduced tradition of talha (clay amphora) winemaking has continued unbroken. The wines are field blends from small, old vineyard plots aged between 25 and 50 years, planted on sandy-clay soils with pockets of granite and schist. The Tinto do Tareco red is a field blend built mainly around Tinta Grossa, Trincadeira, and Aragones, fermented and aged in traditional clay talhas, and bottled with low sulfite levels.
