Profile & Story

Cantine I Favati farms in Cesinale, in the heart of Irpinia east of Naples, within the Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, and Taurasi DOCG zones. The estate is run by winemaker Rosanna Petrozziello together with her husband Giancarlo Favati, brother-in-law Piersabino Favati, and daughter Carla Giusy Favati. Cretarossa is their Aglianico from the Irpinia Campi Taurasini zone, given an extended aging program of roughly five years before release to let this naturally structured, patience-demanding grape find its balance.

Tasting Notes

Deep, dark garnet in color. The bouquet is concentrated, with pepper, black cherry, anise, and oak. The palate shows concentrated dark fruit balanced by fresh acidity, with soft, well-integrated tannins on the finish.

Pairing Recommendation

Grilled steak, roasts, barbecued meats, meat-stuffed pastas in brown sauces, rich and hearty stews, and dry cheeses.
