Profile & Story

Azienda Celestino Pecci lies at Loc. Viti - San Carlo, a few kilometres from the town of Montalcino; Celestino was born in a farmhouse near the abbey of Sant'Antimo and in 1968 acquired two farmhouses and 40 hectares of land. The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG grows on medium-textured, lightly clay soils. The grapes are destemmed and softly pressed, alcoholic fermentation runs at 28-30 C with 20 days of maceration on the skins, and the wine is then aged in wood for 36 to 40 months in 10- and 35-hectolitre casks. It is bottled in 750 ml, magnum and jeroboam.

Tasting Notes

Ruby red pleasantly tending to garnet; the nose is spiced, intense and persistent, very well integrated with the large casks used for ageing. A wine of great overall harmony, showing warm, savoury and highly structured on the palate.

Pairing Recommendation

Everything that recalls Sienese cooking: from pici with ragu to roast game, by way of the great bistecche.
