Profile & Story

Billecart-Salmon, founded in 1818, is the oldest continuously family-owned Champagne house. Brut Rosé ('Le Rosé'), created in the 1970s by Jean Roland-Billecart to be pale and fresh, is the house's flagship non-vintage cuvée: 45% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 20% Meunier, colored with about 8% still red Pinot Noir wine from the house's home village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, vinified at low temperature in stainless steel and aged about 36 months on lees.

Tasting Notes

Radiant, pale pink hue with a fine, persistent bead. Subtle red berry, citrus zest and floral aromas lead to a creamy, smooth palate of wild strawberry evolving toward a precise raspberry finish.

Pairing Recommendation

Producer-recommended with fillet of wild salmon, langoustine carpaccio, and lightly sweet red-fruit desserts.
