Pereira D'Oliveira (D'Oliveiras) is one of the oldest classic Madeira shipping houses, holding onto many of its most famous vintages and creating an irreplaceable stock of old wines dating back to the 1850s. Sercial is Madeira's driest, most acidic style, typically requiring a minimum of 20 years in cask under the traditional canteiro (warm-room) oxidative aging method before its piercing acidity softens.
Tasting Notes
A fascinating nose of quince paste with notes of sealing wax and antique mahogany furniture from the long aging; elegant and mature on the palate, with a wave of richness and vital acidity carrying through an extremely long, complex finish.
