Profile & Story
Kracher, based in Illmitz on the Neusiedlersee, is Austria's benchmark botrytized sweet wine producer. 'Grande Cuvée No. 5' is part of the house's numbered 'Nouvelle Vague' series, whose cuvée numbers are reassigned to different single-vineyard or grape selections each vintage. For 2019, No. 5 is 60% Welschriesling (vinified in 1,000-1,500L Slavonian oak vats) and 40% Chardonnay (aged in barriques); ABV 10%, sealed under natural cork.
Tasting Notes
A clear, concentrated, noble and finely toasty bouquet of ripe and stewed peaches and quinces with refreshing lemon juice and fine toast aromas; a rich, generous yet highly refined and elegant Trockenbeerenauslese with a long, intense, saline finish.
