Profile & Story

Domaine Henri Delagrange farms in Volnay, Burgundy, and has committed to organic certification beginning with the 2026 vintage. The Vieilles Vignes cuvée comes from 1.8 hectares of Pinot Noir planted at a dense 10,000 vines per hectare, averaging 55 years old, on soil of limestone with ferruginous oolites; the hand-harvested grapes yield about 12,000 bottles a year. Fully destemmed, the wine ferments for 18 days in open, temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with gentle punch-downs, then ages 12 months in barrel (10-20% new oak) followed by four months in stainless steel.

Tasting Notes

A beautiful dark red colour with a purple reflection introduces aromas of small black fruits — blackberry and blackcurrant — with finesse and silky tannins on the palate.

Pairing Recommendation

Suggested with Bresse chicken in cream sauce, guinea fowl with cabbage, and creamy cheeses such as Brie or Chaource. Serve at 14-16°C; the producer recommends cellaring two to eight years depending on the vintage.
