Domaine des Marrans is a family estate in Fleurie, Beaujolais, now run by vigneron Mathieu Mélinand. The Marrans lieu-dit — four hectares of pink granite soil facing south and east at 300 meters, planted to Gamay at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare — gives its name to this cuvée, from vines averaging 45 years old and yields of 45 hl/ha. The hand-harvested grapes are sorted, briefly cold-soaked, then undergo 11-13 days of whole-cluster semi-carbonic maceration with indigenous yeasts, temperatures kept below 28°C and one light pump-over a day, followed by slow, low-pressure pressing and full malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged 12 months in oak foudre.

Pairs well with white meats, fish, and cheese. Best enjoyed within 5-6 years of the vintage.
