Domaine Bousquet was founded in 1997 when the Bousquet family of Carcassonne, France, purchased land in Gualtallary, Tupungato, in Mendoza's Uco Valley, and began organic viticulture from day one; the estate is now led by fourth-generation family members Anne Bousquet and Labid Ameri. The Gaia line, named for the Greek goddess of the earth, is crafted with a French winemaking sensibility from 100% organic Pinot Noir grown at roughly 1,200 meters altitude. Grapes for this rose are hand-harvested in the early morning in late February, whole-cluster pressed, cold-macerated for five days at 6C, then fermented at a controlled maximum of 13C over 30 days.
