Domaine Bousquet was founded in 1997 when the Bousquet family, winemakers from Carcassonne in southern France, purchased 400 hectares of untouched land in Gualtallary, Tupungato, in Mendoza's Uco Valley, and began planting vines using organic methods from day one. The estate's first commercial harvest came in 2001, and the winery is now led by fourth-generation family members Anne Bousquet (President/CEO) and Labid Ameri, who describe their mission as uniting "European tradition with Andean strength." Vineyards sit at roughly 1,200 meters above sea level, where cold mountain air, intense high-altitude sunlight, and pure Andean snowmelt water create ideal conditions for organic viticulture. Domaine Bousquet earned organic certification in 2004, added Demeter Biodynamic certification in 2020, and holds Fair for Life and Regenerative Organic certifications. This Malbec belongs to the estate's premium varietal series, made from estate and purchased organic grapes grown on sandy soils in the Uco Valley, fermented in stainless steel and left un-oaked so the fruit leads.
