Rhys Vineyards farms a set of steep, rocky, cool-climate sites in California's Santa Cruz Mountains, planted with an emphasis on soil type over vine vigour and vinified with restrained oak. The Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay is the appellation-level bottling, blended across the estate vineyards; the 2021 was bottled at 13.3% alcohol.
Tasting Notes
A young, vibrant bouquet of lemon, pear, white lilies and lemon blossom over salty soil tones and a light frame of vanillin oak. The palate is bright and full-bodied, with lemon confit, marzipan, dried flowers and chamomile, saline notes and bouncy acidity carrying a long, energetic finish.
