Caprili is a family estate in Tavernelle, southwest of Montalcino, run by the Bartolommei family since they purchased the property in 1965 (planting their first vineyard, 'Madre,' that same year) and began estate-bottling in 1978; they joined the Brunello Consortium in 1972. The Rosso di Montalcino is made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso, aged 12 months in large Slavonian-oak botti before further bottle aging -- a 'younger sibling' to the estate's Brunello that has earned its own following as a glass-pour favorite.
