Profile & Story

Feudo Montoni has farmed its historic grounds in Cammarata, Sicily, since 1469 and is now overseen by Fabio Sireci, the third generation to run the high-altitude, organic estate. Lagnusa takes its name from the vineyard plot itself -- 'lagnusa' is Sicilian for lazy, low-yielding vines -- 35-year-old, hand-harvested Nero d'Avola grown on sandy, east-facing soil, surrounded by durum-wheat fields that isolate it like 'an island within an island.' Grapes ferment with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks and mature roughly twenty months before release. ABV 13.5%.

Tasting Notes

Ruby red in color, with a complex bouquet of cherries-in-spirit, red plum, blackberry and warm spices -- cinnamon and clove -- lifted by cooling menthol notes. Soft, velvety and sapid on the palate, with a delicate, well-judged tannin.
