I Clivi was founded in the mid-1990s by Ferdinando Zanusso and is now led by his son Mario, farming organic Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Verduzzo and Malvasia in the Collio and Colli Orientali hills of Friuli, near the Slovenian border. 'A Tessa,' named for Ferdinando's granddaughter, comes from vineyard sites planted on marl and sandstone along the border; grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, then aged six months on the lees with no new oak. ABV 12.5%.
