Profile & Story

Cleto Chiarli founded Emilia-Romagna's first wine company in 1860 in Modena, and the family -- now five generations on -- remains the region's most storied Lambrusco producer. Vecchia Modena Premium, sourced from Lambrusco di Sorbara vines in Sozzigalli, reproduces an 1892-era bottling made by single-fermentation-under-pressure rather than the two-stage method used for most sparkling wines; it was the first Lambrusco ever awarded Gambero Rosso's Tre Bicchieri.

Tasting Notes

Bright and racy with fine, persistent bubbles; notes of sliced orange and cherry give way to a touch of dried strawberry and fresh herbs, finishing dry and tangy with mouthwatering acidity.
