Domaine de la Chanteleuserie is a family estate in Benais, in the Bourgueil appellation of the Loire Valley, farmed by Thierry Boucard, the seventh generation of his family to make wine here. The Cuvee Alouettes is 100% Cabernet Franc grown on silico-clay/sandy soils across a roughly 30-year-old-vine, 9-hectare parcel; grapes undergo a 12-18 day cuvaison with temperature control and the wine ages in stainless steel for 8-12 months to preserve fruit purity, farmed under lutte raisonnee.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of red currant, cranberry and black pepper lead into a sleek, medium-bodied palate with lively acidity and a fine chalky texture; notes of black cherry, wild berries and licorice close on a peppery, earthy finish.
