Pievalta farms its Verdicchio biodynamically in the Marche hills, and in 2008 became the first Demeter-certified biodynamic winery in the region; the estate is today overseen by Barone Pizzini. 'Tre Ripe' -- named for its three source vineyards in Maiolati Spontini, Montecarotto and Monte Follonica -- ferments with indigenous yeasts in steel with brief lees aging, farmed with horn manure and biodynamic preparations rather than synthetic inputs.
