José Maria da Fonseca, founded in 1834 in the Setúbal Peninsula, holds one of the rarest and most precious heritages in Portuguese wine: a library of aged Moscatel de Setúbal built up by generations of the Soares Franco family. Trilogia was created to mark the new millennium — a rare, special-edition blend of three great twentieth-century harvests selected by winemaker Domingos Soares Franco: 1900, 1934, and 1965. Limited to 13,926 bottles, it was blended and released to market in October 1999.
Tasting Notes
A complex, intense fortified Moscatel with notes of dried fruit and honey, the layered result of decades of individual cask aging before the three vintages were married — a wine for connoisseurs, showing the depth and concentration that only long, patient aging can give Setúbal's signature grape.
