Pievalta was founded in 2002 in Maiolati Spontini, in the heart of the Castelli di Jesi, the historic home of Verdicchio, and is linked to the Barone Pizzini group. The estate farms 30.4 of its 44.1 hectares biodynamically. San Paolo is the estate's Riserva, produced only in the best vintages from a single vineyard on Monte Follonica in the commune of San Paolo di Jesi, planted on calcareous clay and sandstone at 350 meters. This 2016 vintage of San Paolo was awarded Tre Bicchieri (Three Glasses), the top rating in Gambero Rosso's Vini d'Italia guide.
Tasting Notes
Straw yellow with green reflections, the producer's house style shows aromas of candied citrus, jasmine, and aromatic herbs; the palate is full and fresh, with the classic length and savory, saline trail that this Riserva shows vintage after vintage. A long-lived wine by nature.
Pairing Recommendation
Crustaceans and grilled vegetables, first courses and fish, white meats, and porchetta marchigiana.
