Syrocco was founded by the late Rhone vigneron Alain Graillot, who discovered the Zenata vineyards - on Morocco's Atlantic coast between Casablanca and Rabat - while cycling near the Thalvin winery; the project is now run by his sons Maxime and Antoine. The Syrah is certified organic, grown on 25-plus-year-old vines in sandy shale and gravel soils cooled by Atlantic winds, and aged in large, older barrels in keeping with Graillot's northern Rhone sensibility - restrained extraction and oak in favor of transparency and drinkability.
