Our 2022 McGrail Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is our flagship wine and the original wine we produced upon opening in 2008. McGrail Vineyards is nestled in the rolling hills of the Livermore Valley and is family-owned and operated, dedicated to crafting exceptional wines that reflect both the beauty of the land and the passion of the people who farm it. Founded on the belief that great wine begins in the vineyard, McGrail is built on a deep respect for the soil, the vines, and the community that surrounds them.
Tasting Notes
This estate-grown Cabernet opens with inviting aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and cassis, layered with subtle notes of vanilla, cedar, and warm baking spice. Hints of clove, nutmeg, and sandalwood add depth, while a whisper of dried herbs and tobacco bring savory complexity. On the palate, bold flavors of blackberry and dark plum are lifted by vibrant acidity, framed by firm, ripe tannins. The wine is full-bodied and richly textured, yet balanced, carrying through to a long, graceful finish where dark fruit and spice linger harmoniously. Enjoyable upon release, this wine will continue to evolve beautifully over the next 8–12 years.
